Fireflies.ai Alternatives: AI Meeting Note Takers Compared
Data checked:
Fireflies.ai is a solid default: its bot joins Zoom, Google Meet and Teams, transcription is marked unlimited on the free plan, API access comes with every plan, and its pricing page states your data is never used for AI training. The usual reasons to switch are the free plan’s 400-minute storage cap per team, downloads that need Pro ($18 a month, or $10 per seat billed yearly), the 150-minute upload limit, or a language list where most of the 100+ entries are labelled beta.

Free plans that don’t meter minutes
Fathom and tl;dv record and transcribe an unlimited number of meetings on their free plans. Fathom limits AI features instead of minutes and supports 38 languages including Japanese (not Chinese); it trains on de-identified data unless you opt out in settings. tl;dv writes AI notes for only 10 meetings, caps every recording at 3 hours, keeps free recordings up to 3 months, and says your content is never used for training.
A bigger metered allowance
Otter.ai gives 300 minutes a month (30 minutes per conversation, 3 file imports in total). MeetGeek gives 180 minutes a month with 120-minute meetings on Basic and Pro, 3 months of transcript storage and upload support. Bluedot records 5 meetings for the lifetime of a free account; its paid Basic plan ($18 a month, or $14 per user billed yearly) is audio-only with unlimited storage but 1-hour recordings, and Pro lists unlimited duration.
Notetakers without a bot
- jamie works on and away from the computer, including in-person meetings. Free: 10 AI notes a month with a 30-minute limit; Plus is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, with 20 notes and 2-hour meetings. Its policy excludes meeting content from AI training.
- Granola is a notepad that captures system audio on Mac, Windows and mobile and merges transcripts with your own notes. Business is $14 per user a month; de-identified data may train models unless you opt out.
- Tactiq is a Chrome extension: 10 free transcripts a month, Pro at $12 a month or $8 billed yearly, and uploads up to 2 GB listing English, Japanese and Mandarin.
- Krisp (AI Meeting Notes) adds noise cancellation; Core is $16 a month, or $8 billed yearly, with unlimited transcription in 16 languages (no Japanese or Chinese).
Team and CRM workflows
Avoma ($29 a month per recorder seat, or $19 billed yearly, unlimited real-time transcription) plugs notes into CRM workflows. Fellow (Team $11 per user a month, or $7 billed yearly) covers meetings, uploads and action items in 100 languages. Read AI gives 5 free transcripts a month; Pro ($19.75, or $15) adds unlimited transcripts and 100 upload credits.
Japanese or Chinese meetings
Fathom supports Japanese but not Chinese; Read AI lists Japanese, Mandarin and Cantonese; jamie includes both in its 99+ languages; Tactiq lists all three; Notta transcribes 58 including both. Details in Japanese transcription apps and Chinese transcription apps.
